Taj Mahal Build Again for Wife Love

A teacher in India, Mr. Anand Prakash Chouksey has built a replica of the iconic Taj Mahal for his wife Manjusha saying that their new house is ‘a symbol of his love’ for her.

The completed project has a 29-foot dome and Taj Mahal-like towers. The flooring is made from ‘Makrana’ of Rajasthan and the furniture was specially designed by artisans from Mumbai. Chouksey was originally planning on building a 80-foot high structure, but it got scrapped after the permissions needed for constructing such a structure got rejected by authorities.

Asked why he decided to build his house like the famous tomb, he said it was because of Taj Mahal’s historic association with his town. Although the iconic mausoleum now stands on the banks of the Yamuna in Agra, it could have actually been in Burhanpur, where Mumtaz breathed her last centuries ago.
